Preface

The medical curriculum and methodologies to assess the knowledge of the student have undergone tremendous changes in the recent past. Though originated in the developed countries of the West, this technique has gained strong foothold in many other countries. Almost all the competitive examinations in India are now based upon Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) and it has become imperative for the students to get themselves oriented and become familiar with this methodology.

This book has been designed to fulfill the needs of this objective method which acts as a better tool for evaluation of the competence of the student over a wide spectrum of the subject in a short span of time. This book has also been intended to provide useful material for a quick and comprehensive review and revision of the subject before an examination of any kind whatsoever.

In preparing this book various standard text books have been consulted. MCQ papers of various examinations in India and abroad have also been given due consideration. We have purposely avoided dividing the contents of the book into various chapters. We consider this book as material for evaluation of knowledge and not a treatise for studying the subject. However, for easy accessibility of the student to a particular subject, a table of contents indicating the question wise classification has also been provided.

It has also been our endeavor to frame as simple a language as could be possible to facilitate better understanding of the question and the possible answers. We have tried to make this work a simple but precise technical manual to be of use to the professionals in the fields of medical sciences.

In any book of this kind some inaccuracies and ambiguities are inevitable in spite of sincere handwork put in by the editors in verifying each and every statement from the standard text books. Such errors as well as the suggestions for the improvementms in the book are heartily welcome and shall be of use in enhancing the scientific merit of the future editions.
