Glossary of Muslim Names

There are millions of Muslims spread over English speaking areas, who feel the need of a handy Glossary of Muslim names to give good Islamic names to their children. We have compiled this book “Glossary of Muslim Names” whit a view to meet the needs of not only these English speaking Muslims, but also of those residing in European, American, Australian  and other African and Asian countries, who use other languages commonly written in roman alphabet. They may also find it easy to pick out Islamic names from this glossary at hand.

The holy Prophet of Islam , Muhammad  (PBUH) said, “ whenever you name a child, name it as a slave to Allah ( under his various names) such as Abdullah, Abdur Rahman , etc,” the Prophet said, “ on the Doomsday you will be called by your and your father’s Prophet names. Therefore, give good names to your children, and if they have bad ones, change them.” The Prophet ( PBUH) himself changed the names of so many persons.

Islam being a whole code of life it is an all comprehensive religion giving guidance on al conceivable subjects including naming of the children .

The Prophet , and the best names in the eyes of Allah are Abdullh, and Abdur Rahman. Among all the names the truest is hareth ( Archiever of objectives ) and Human ( intender) and the worst names are Harab, ( war) and Murrah, ( Bitter) ( Abu Daud)
